SPAN 6629 Latin American Novels (Spring: 3 )

Course Description

The focus of this course will be on the shift in Latin American novels of the twentieth century from exterior descriptions to the interior dimensions of the self. It examines the themes and techniques of selected writers, including Ernesto Sbato, Mara Luisa Bombal, Alejo Carpentier, Carlos Fuentes, Mario Vargas Llosa, Elena Poniatowska, Gabriel Garca Mrquez, Laura Esquivel, and Antonio Skarmeta.
