POLI 4932 Honors Seminar: The Changing World of American Politics (Spring: 3 )

Course Description

Most of the "conventional wisdom" about American politics was formed in the 20th century. But the 21st century has turned out to be unexpectedly eventful so far, challenging many previous assumptions about the behavior of American citizens and the operation of their government. This seminar will survey a number of important recent scholarly studies across a wide range of topics, including public opinion, the news media, Congress, political parties and elections, national policy-making, and racial and ethnic politics, in order to investigate how much and in what respect the American political world has changed over the past two decades.
