JOUR 2241 Reporting on Arts and Culture (Fall/Spring: 3 )

Course Description

Exploring the skills of researching, writing, and editing in the field of arts and culture – music, film, dance, visual arts, theater, food – with a secondary focus on the special demands of covering events and art in potentially unfamiliar cultures. Students will be expected to read a broad range of articles in varied styles, to write a short piece every week and two longer pieces over the course of the semester, and to workshop and edit one another’s pieces, as well as to do interviews, review local events, and search out uncovered arts stories in local communities.
