The 20th century has witnessed a renewed interest in the theological understanding of the Holy Spirit (i.e., pneumatology) in Western Christianity. Great theologians, such as Yves Congar, Jürgen Moltmann or Hans Urs von Balthasar, have devoted important works to this enterprise.
