POLI 2410 Latin American Politics (Fall: 3 )
This course is an introduction to politics in Latin America. We'll look at efforts of Latin Americans to create more inclusive, equitable, and rights-respecting democracies in a region long characterized by political instability, authoritarianism, and great inequalities in the distribution of wealth and power. While we'll examine the region as a whole, our focus will be on Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, and El Salvador, with a brief excusion to Mexico. No prior knowledge of Latin America is required for the course, which is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
